Start at the printer
- Check power, paper, ink or toner, and any message on the printer display.
- For USB, check the cable and try a suitable direct port. For Wi-Fi, make sure the printer and PC can reach the same local network; a guest network may isolate devices.
- Try the printer’s own internal test page if its manual provides one. If that fails too, Windows may not be the starting point.
Check the Windows queue
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners. Select the intended printer, not an old duplicate or Print to PDF.
- Open its print queue and review stuck or paused jobs. Cancel an unwanted job rather than sending more copies.
- Try a small test document. If it works, test the original app or file separately.
Add or repair the connection
Use Add device in Printers & scanners when setting up a printer. If Windows does not find it, use the exact manufacturer’s model instructions and official driver page.
A printer labeled offline may have lost its connection or kept an old address after a router change. Replacing the printer does not automatically fix the network behind it.
Windows Get Help includes printer troubleshooting. More involved queue or driver repair should follow the specific error and manufacturer instructions.
Avoid the fake support detour
Do not use a phone number from a printer-driver advertisement or grant remote access to someone who contacts you unexpectedly. Find support through the manufacturer’s verified website or a shop you chose yourself.
